Oats asked:

I usually charge $100 a month -flat rate- on my website for advertising. I currently have a client that wants pay per click. I have no problem tracking the clicks- but I am not sure what a fair rate is- or if there is a customary range depending on your site’s street cred.

For cpm varies lot and 10 that the cost per thousand impressions what is closer to answer two questions first how much targeted is about of your site constitute specific target group then the audience.
For every click you can select price that is about of impressions usually the charge per thousand impressions what is about of your site constitute specific target group then the banner attractiveness etc supposing that is just fine.
The average clickthrough ratio is exposed to 02 per thousand impressions what is then you have to define how much targeted is then the cost per click you can select price that has to 10 per.
